Developing a New Plan

I'm beginning to think the experts are right. After a long run, it's best not to have another long run right after it. Yesterday was a 5 mile run. I tried to run another 5 today. I ran 4.1 miles of the route. My body gave out. So over the next few days, I am going to develop a plan where I have one long run, and a combination of smaller runs. I think that will benefit me greatly.

My coach suggests those of us in the track program do 3-4 runs per week:

2 30-minute runs
1 40-minute run
1 50-60 minute run (our "long" run)

Now, I'm running for time, not for distance because I'm working on endurance. But it sounds like you're coming to a similar conclusion.

1-2 "long" runs (5 miles)
2-3 "short" runs (2-3 miles)

That sound about where you are?

If you're interspersing long and short, you should do well by your body.

By the way...WAY TO GO on the new weight level! Very soon, you'll weigh less than me!
