Hot Sunday!
And I mean HOT!!! I believe we will hit 100 degrees in Chicago today. As I have been this week, I am running indoors. Today I ran for 20 minutes. The first 15 were on the Hill program of the treadmill. I'm glad to learn about this, because it really adds variety to my running. The last 5 minutes I ran on a flat "course." Overall I ran 2 miles. The hill program has me running at various inclines. I start at 0, and at one point make it to a 4.3 incline.
I am also trying out new shoes. As a rule of thumb I buy new running shoes after 300 miles. Most articles I read on this says you need running shoes every 300-500 miles, or every 6 months. I had my Air Pegasus shoes since January, so it was definitely time. I am trying out a pair of New Balance. The shoe store I normally go to said Nike was changing to Air Pegasus. They thought it might be narrower. I wear a 8 1/2 EEEE shoe. So I need wide, not narrow. The New Balance I bought today worked nicely.
Today is also grocery day. I really need to focus on some healthier items. While I have been ok this week, the emotions of the week have caused me to eat things I normally don't. I have to fight the "oh I will run it off" attitude.
My goal for the week is to do a long outdoor run. I hope the heat comes down just a bit.

Yes...running the great rationalization.

I recently bought some New Balance shoes. My feet are wide too - (C) - okay, sort of wide! so I have a hard time finding shoes that fit. These new shoes are wide enough to allow for toe wiggle, which is a real treat. I wish they were maybe 1/4 inch longer, though. Every once in a while I'm aware of my big toe touching the front of the shoe - probably when I haven't laced up properly. Most of the time, though, they're great. They fit snugly at the ankle, and that means they don't have to hug the whole foot. Just this once I bought TWO pairs. It seems that whenever I find something that I like and that fits, the manufacturer quits making it, so I played it safe. If I'm supposed to replace the shoes after six months, I guess I'd better buy two pairs at a time from now on - whenever there's a big sale.
Hi Marcia,
Welcome to the blog. 125 lbs! Wow! Yes, the pint of ice cream is tempting, but I have done well. I haven't even had a spoonfull.
