Give Me Five More....
That's the refrain I heard from Josh today during the training session. He put me through the paces, and I did fairly well. The workout focused on my upper body, lots of shoulder work. I was also introduced to free weights today. They used to be called dumb bells. Are they still?
This morning I was in leg pain, so we started the workout with stretches. I admit I need to do more of this. Josh knows what he's doing. I suppose that is why he gets the big bucks. :-)
I didn't complain through any of it. Though...it got dicey during the push up like exercise. It's like a push up, but you start on your forearms, push up to your hands, and back to the forearms. OW! That one I don't like!
After the workout I ran 2.67 miles on the treadmill. So overall I thought it was a good workout.
It is obvious though I need to work on stretching more. Josh helped me open my hips a bit, and with the ankles. I'm wondering if something like Yoga would help. Most likely it would.
I have signed up for 6 sessions with Josh. Then I will take what I learn and implement that into my routine.

That pushup sounds brutal, Charlie. I don't think I'll even attempt it in order to understand how it works. The yoga sounds like a good idea, though - I think I should have done that twenty years ago. Now, I'm not sure I wouldn't just get stuck in some semi-obscene position and dodder off into my dotage, blushing. Heh.
Yoga absolutely would help. Start with something like "gentle yoga". It's easy and it's fantastic for balance, which we lose progressively as we age.
Some studies suggest that loss of balance is the biggest source of the falls that cause us so much problem in later years and that yoga can be one of THE most effective ways to keep balance.
Heard that from an MD, *not* a yoga instructor! :)
