Run and Walk

In getting ready for the marathon, I am training using the run/walk combination. According to marathon guru Jeff Galloway, this is the best way to finish a marathon.

I have to admit the running and walking frustrates me. Yesterday, during one of my short runs, I ran 4 minutes and would walk 1 minute. It seems like as I get into the run, it's time to walk. I understand the walking is to save my legs during a long run, and I am sure I will eventually appreciate it. For now though, I just want to run.

Tomorrow is my long run for the week. In this training program you have short runs during the week, and then a long run at the end of the week. Tomorrow I will attempt 6 miles. Not evening looking at time. The goal is to finish the 6 miles.

Today was a cross training day. I biked at the gym. I rode the bike for 8.5 miles. It felt good. I also had a leg massage. I needed it. It is also obvious from the pain I was in, I need to stretch more. I can always stretch more. Something to think about.
