Games Winding Down

Today is a soccer day for me. I will head out to watch the Bronze Medal game in a bit. Tonight I'm partying with Water Polo guys! YES!!!!

Tomorrow is the marathon. I may head out to cheer the runners on. The Closing Ceremonies are also tomorrow. The main draw is Cyndi Lauper.

The Organizing Committee has been getting a lot of flak for how these games have come off. The Opening Ceremony didn't help matters. Still I think it was a good event, and I think alot of the participants from around the world had a great time.

The Washington Post had a short bit on the gossip page today about DC Cowboys (?) going to Chicago for the closing ceremony.

What went wrong with the opening ceremony? Sounded like you had a grand time.

Have fun with the water boys!

The Opening Ceremony was over 4 hours. What was basically a 2 hour show was spread out over 4. There were a ton of speeches. Some were angry speeches. One was about overcoming suicide. It went on and on.

I did enjoy the program, but come on....we don't need to talk about our struggles. This wasn't a civil rights protest. It was a celebration. Ok...rant over.

The Water Polo boys never showed....boo...hiss. So my friend and I headed to another bar watched videos and danced a little. It was fun.

Looking forward to the Closing Ceremony. Cyndi Lauper is performing.
